Story: (8/10) – Good
The series focuses on Nougami Neuro, a demon who feeds on mysteries and puzzles. He came to the human world to feast on the mysteries. As a demon, he must not make his presence noticed by the humans as it is the law in the human world. Because of this, he makes a deal with Katsuragi Yako, who has her own personal mystery which she has to solve, and together they solve crimes for Neuro's appetite.
Basically the story is done in a mostly episodic manner, that is one episode per case and sometimes 2-3 episodes per case. As you progress through the cases and the episodes, you will witness the growth of Yako and in the end the mystery of her father's death is somewhat resolved. The supernatural aspect of the series makes it different from the other detective and mystery shows and I think that's unique.
Characters: (8/10) – Good
Neuro is a very unique character. Other than Neuro, the other characters are pretty interesting too.
Here are the characters I like:
Neuro - Very unique and can be quite sadistic at times!
Sai - He is a very complex and pitiable character.
Godai - tsundere type.
Yako - I enjoy watching her character development.
Art/Animation: (7/10) – Fairly Good
The art style and character designs are unique but not exactly my cup of tea. The animation is just average.
Music: (6/10) – Fair
The opening theme is a pop-rock song by Nightmare called 'Dirty' whereas the ending theme is a ballad by Kagami Seira called 'Kodoku no Hikari'. I think the opening theme suits the mood of the anime quite well but I can't say the same for the ending theme.
Enjoyment: (8/10) – Good
It's a pretty entertaining series. It has some funny and comedic moments and some sad and touching moments.
Overall: (8/10) – Good
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro is definitely worth a watch if you enjoy detective or mystery genres. However, do not expect it to be like Detective Conan or Kindaichi.
